OspreyOn June 20 2001, one of the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) Osprey (”Zuma”, a female nesting on North Spring Pool) was fitted with a telemetry transmitter to allow tracking her position. Like so many times before, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the U.S. Fish and Widlife Service at Montezuma National Wildife Refuge teamed up to provide an opportunity to learn about migration first hand. This combined effort resulted in the unique chance to track the movements of one of Montezuma’s nesting osprey.

Though this project started since 2001, many of the information on this site is useful for both educators and students. Check out the learning resources section.
